okay, peepz! some online resources which provide translations and other tools for studying the quran:

http://www.emuslim.com/quran

# a site which offers word-for-word translation (all the 30 juz have now been made available) and a quranic dictionary in 3 languages ! also features an 80% compilation of the words - available in 4 languages! a hindi translation of the 1st juz is also available! all files in downloadable pdf format!

http://www.quraninenglish.com/cgi-local/pages.pl

# a word-for-word translation of the entire quran!

http://www.islamawakened.com

# offers 17 different translations of the quran!

http://aaiil.org/text/books/others/misc/concordanceholyquran/concordanceholyquran.shtml

# concordance of the quran....in djvu format! also, incomplete! (vols. 1 and 4, outta the listed 6, have been made available)

http://www.mtmcenter.org/resources.htm

# concordance.....go to #8. "concordance of the quran!

or:

http://www.mtmcenter.org/QUR'ENGL.htm

(single file - of the entire book)

http://www.studyquran.co.uk/PRLonline.htm

# this is another site which can be used as a resource, though i am not sure about its contents! the rooj s-j-d lists "hear & obey" as an entry, which is a gross lie!

an example of perversity is the entry for the root k-a(yn)-b! it features a "quote" from lane's: "a house or temple belonging to the tribe of Rabee'ah, who used to compass it, or perform circuits round it (as is done round the Kabbeh of Mekkeh)". what it does not mention is that the "quote" is specifically for "alka-'abaatu" and "dhulka-'abaati"!

also, it does not, perhaps deliberately and deviously, include the "quote" from lane's which talks about "alk'abatu": The Sacred House; [the square, or cubic, building, in the centre of the Temple of Mekkeh]

despite the seeming perversity of this site, it can still be useful for quick lookup of root occurrences!

site(s) seemingly not online at the moment:

http://www.openburhan.com

# offers tools for studyng the quran, including root lookup! given the difficult nature of the task, there could be some inaccuracies! also, the work is not complete!

downloadable software:

http://www.agnatemoslem.net/quran.html

# "the koran software" with translations in 12 different languages!

quran + more software:

http://www.agnatemoslem.net/islam.html

"the islam software" which features some sunni hadith collections and some more resources, in addition to the quran translations!

okay...i need to make an edit here: "the islam software" also contains 239 sermons and 79 letters of ali from "nahjul balagha", the famous shiite compilation!

...both the downloads (koran s/w and islam s/w) from the site are cool! : cool :
