Dear brother Ahmed,

Please can you explain in detail the meaning of the verse 103 in Chapter 5 of the Koran:

????????????????????????????¢?????????????????????¢??????????????????????¬????????God has not appointed such things as Baheera, Saiba, Waseela or Ham, but the unbelievers forge false hood against God: and most of them do not understand.????????????????????????????¢?????????????????????¢??????????????????????¬????????????????????????????

What is this Baheera, Saiba, Waseela, and Ham?

Please throw some light.

Thanks.

Sure mate, let me bring the Arabic verse:

مَا جَعَلَ اللّهُ مِن بَحِيرَةٍ وَلاَ سَآئِبَةٍ وَلاَ وَصِيلَةٍ وَلاَ حَامٍ وَلَكِنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ يَفْتَرُونَ عَلَى اللّهِ الْكَذِبَ وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ لاَ يَعْقِلُونَ (103)

Actually mate, this is a tough Arabic words, the reason for that is simply these words are not common Arabic words:

there is a lot of explanation in the tafisir regarding these words, however the one I feel comfortable with is the one made by the minitery of religion in Egypt, it is a tafsir that was given to me in a hard copy as a present in 1987 and since then it became the number one reference to me due to its simplicity in explaining the Arabic Quran

The Mushrikoon during Mohammad time used to invent a few things and associate to Allah, for example:

They used to split the ear of the female camels and never use it after that as food as ordained to them by Allah, i.e. it became prohibited after they split its ear while it is lawful to them, they called it Baheera

They also used to chose some of their cattle and leave it without slaughtering it ????????????????????????????¢?????????????????????¢??????????????????????¬????????Saiba????????????????????????????¢?????????????????????¢??????????????????????¬???????????????????????????? as being offered to God, while the matter of the fact is it is offered by God to them, again they prohibited something lawful to them

Also they used to prohibit the eating of the male cattle , for example if a cattle delivers for the first time a female then they offer that female cattle to their idols, and so on until it delivers a male, the male however won????????????????????????????¢?????????????????????¢??????????????????????¬?????????????????????¢??????????????????????¢t be offered to their idols, pretty confusing hey,

The Ham is something similar but we are talking about twins or more in one delivery,

All in all the four words are describing some weird traditions regarding prohibiting food that Allah already allowed to them, i.e. they lied about Allah because they associated all these flawed traditions to Him, that is why the verse is ending with this :????????????????????????????¢?????????????????????¢??????????????????????¬???????????????????????????? but the unbelievers forge false hood against God: and most of them do not understand.????????????????????????????¢?????????????????????¢??????????????????????¬????????????????????????????, i.e. Allah has exposed them to us and to themselves that they really don????????????????????????????¢?????????????????????¢??????????????????????¬?????????????????????¢??????????????????????¢t understand

I believe that this is a verse that is talking about something in the past that may not exist anymore, possibly in some remote and very uneducated area in the M E, but I never heard of it to be honest

No worries, I hope it is a bit clearer now but as I said this is one tough verse in the Quran due to the fact that the names created by those Kafiroon/Mushrikoon were invented by them as nothing more than names to some flawed traditions they claimed to be ordained by Allah

Allah knows best

Take care

Dear Brother, Sir

Salaam Alaikum.

I am sorry for keeping you up all night, as there must be a diifference of about 5 to 6 hours between Australia and India,

And if I open my Computer at 9 pm here in India it must be around 3 hours past midnight in Australia.

So take it easy. I advise you to make it a point to go to bed by 10 pm Australia Time and not open your Computer until 10 am the next Morning. Come what may.

Love,
