Nuh (Noah)

Translation

Verses 1-28

بِسْمِ اللّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ

In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful.

إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِ أَنْ أَنْذِرْ قَوْمَكَ مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ يَأْتِيَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ (1)

Indeed, We sent Nuh to his people, (saying): Warn your people before there comes to them a painful torture.
[Al Quran ; 71:1]

قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ إِنِّي لَكُمْ نَذِيرٌ مُبِينٌ (2)

He (Nuh) said: O my people! Indeed, I am to you an obvious warner.
[Al Quran ; 71:2]

أَنِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ وَاتَّقُوهُ وَأَطِيعُونِ (3)

(Saying:) You should worship Allah and fear Him and obey me.
[Al Quran ; 71:3]

يَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ مِنْ ذُنُوبِكُمْ وَيُؤَخِّرْكُمْ إِلَىٰ أَجَلٍ مُسَمًّى ۚ إِنَّ أَجَلَ اللَّهِ إِذَا جَاءَ لَا يُؤَخَّرُ ۖ لَوْ كُنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ (4)

He will forgive you of your sins and delay you for a specified term; indeed, when the term of Allah comes, it will not be postponed, if you only knew.
[Al Quran ; 71:4]

قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي دَعَوْتُ قَوْمِي لَيْلًا وَنَهَارًا (5)

He (Nuh) said: My Lord! Indeed, I have called my people night and day.
[Al Quran ; 71:5]

فَلَمْ يَزِدْهُمْ دُعَائِي إِلَّا فِرَارًا (6)

But my call did not increase them except in flight.
[Al Quran ; 71:6]

وَإِنِّي كُلَّمَا دَعَوْتُهُمْ لِتَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ جَعَلُوا أَصَابِعَهُمْ فِي آذَانِهِمْ وَاسْتَغْشَوْا ثِيَابَهُمْ وَأَصَرُّوا وَاسْتَكْبَرُوا اسْتِكْبَارًا (7)

And indeed, whenever I have called them that You may forgive them, they made their fingers in their ears and covered themselves with their garments and persisted and were arrogant with (great) arrogance.
[Al Quran ; 71:7]

ثُمَّ إِنِّي دَعَوْتُهُمْ جِهَارًا (8)

Moreover, I have called them publicly.
[Al Quran ; 71:8]

ثُمَّ إِنِّي أَعْلَنْتُ لَهُمْ وَأَسْرَرْتُ لَهُمْ إِسْرَارًا (9)

Then I have announced to them and confided to them secretly.
[Al Quran ; 71:9]

فَقُلْتُ اسْتَغْفِرُوا رَبَّكُمْ إِنَّهُ كَانَ غَفَّارًا (10)

And said: Seek forgiveness of your Lord; indeed, He is ever Forgiving.
[Al Quran ; 71:10]

يُرْسِلِ السَّمَاءَ عَلَيْكُمْ مِدْرَارًا (11)

He will send the sky upon you pouring (rain).
[Al Quran ; 71:11]

وَيُمْدِدْكُمْ بِأَمْوَالٍ وَبَنِينَ وَيَجْعَلْ لَكُمْ جَنَّاتٍ وَيَجْعَلْ لَكُمْ أَنْهَارًا (12)

And will supply you with wealth and sons and make for you gardens and make for you rivers.
[Al Quran ; 71:12]

مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَرْجُونَ لِلَّهِ وَقَارًا (13)

What is the matter with you that you do not wish for Allah grandeur.
[Al Quran ; 71:13]

وَقَدْ خَلَقَكُمْ أَطْوَارًا (14)

While He created you in phases?
[Al Quran ; 71:14]

أَلَمْ تَرَوْا كَيْفَ خَلَقَ اللَّهُ سَبْعَ سَمَاوَاتٍ طِبَاقًا (15)

Do you not see how Allah has created seven heavens in layers.
[Al Quran ; 71:15]

وَجَعَلَ الْقَمَرَ فِيهِنَّ نُورًا وَجَعَلَ الشَّمْسَ سِرَاجًا (16)

And made the moon therein a light and made the sun a lamp.
[Al Quran ; 71:16]

وَاللَّهُ أَنْبَتَكُمْ مِنَ الْأَرْضِ نَبَاتًا (17)

And Allah has caused you to grow from the earth a growth.
[Al Quran ; 71:17]

ثُمَّ يُعِيدُكُمْ فِيهَا وَيُخْرِجُكُمْ إِخْرَاجًا (18)

Then He will return you into it and extract you with an extraction.
[Al Quran ; 71:18]

وَاللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُمُ الْأَرْضَ بِسَاطًا (19)

And Allah made for you the earth a carpet.
[Al Quran ; 71:19]

لِتَسْلُكُوا مِنْهَا سُبُلًا فِجَاجًا (20)

So you may follow therein wide paths.
[Al Quran ; 71:20]

قَالَ نُوحٌ رَبِّ إِنَّهُمْ عَصَوْنِي وَاتَّبَعُوا مَنْ لَمْ يَزِدْهُ مَالُهُ وَوَلَدُهُ إِلَّا خَسَارًا (21)

Nuh said: My Lord! Indeed, they have disobeyed me and followed one whose wealth and children will not increase him except in loss.
[Al Quran ; 71:21]

وَمَكَرُوا مَكْرًا كُبَّارًا (22)

And they planned a tremendous plan.
[Al Quran ; 71:22]

وَقَالُوا لَا تَذَرُنَّ آلِهَتَكُمْ وَلَا تَذَرُنَّ وَدًّا وَلَا سُوَاعًا وَلَا يَغُوثَ وَيَعُوقَ وَنَسْرًا (23)

And said: Do not leave your gods and never leave Wadda or Suwa or Yaghuth and Yaouk and Nasra.
[Al Quran ; 71:23]

وَقَدْ أَضَلُّوا كَثِيرًا ۖ وَلَا تَزِدِ الظَّالِمِينَ إِلَّا ضَلَالًا (24)

And they have already misguided many, and it does not increase the unjust except in error.
[Al Quran ; 71:24]

مِمَّا خَطِيئَاتِهِمْ أُغْرِقُوا فَأُدْخِلُوا نَارًا فَلَمْ يَجِدُوا لَهُمْ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ أَنْصَارًا (25)

Because of their sins, they were drowned and were admitted into a fire, so they did not find for them other than Allah (any) helpers.
[Al Quran ; 71:25]

وَقَالَ نُوحٌ رَبِّ لَا تَذَرْ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ مِنَ الْكَافِرِينَ دَيَّارًا (26)

And Nuh said: My Lord! Do not leave upon the land from among the unbelievers an inhabitant.
[Al Quran ; 71:26]

إِنَّكَ إِنْ تَذَرْهُمْ يُضِلُّوا عِبَادَكَ وَلَا يَلِدُوا إِلَّا فَاجِرًا كَفَّارًا (27)

Indeed, if You leave them, they will misguide Your servants and will not beget except a wicked disbeliever.
[Al Quran ; 71:27]

رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَلِوَالِدَيَّ وَلِمَنْ دَخَلَ بَيْتِيَ مُؤْمِنًا وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ وَلَا تَزِدِ الظَّالِمِينَ إِلَّا تَبَارًا (28)

My Lord! Forgive me and my parents and whoever enters my house a believer and the believing men and the believing women; and do not increase the unjust except in destruction.
[Al Quran ; 71:28]
