Al-Inshiqaq (The Splitting)

Translation

Verses 1-25

بِسْمِ اللّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ

In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful.

إِذَا السَّمَاءُ انْشَقَّتْ (1)

When the sky is split (open).
[Al Quran ; 84:1]

وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ (2)

And listened to its Lord and was obligated.
[Al Quran ; 84:2]

وَإِذَا الْأَرْضُ مُدَّتْ (3)

And when the earth is extended.
[Al Quran ; 84:3]

وَأَلْقَتْ مَا فِيهَا وَتَخَلَّتْ (4)

And has thrown what is in it and released (it).
[Al Quran ; 84:4]

وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ (5)

And listened to its Lord and was obligated.
[Al Quran ; 84:5]

يَا أَيُّهَا الْإِنْسَانُ إِنَّكَ كَادِحٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ كَدْحًا فَمُلَاقِيهِ (6)

O human! Indeed, you are struggling to your Lord with a struggle and will meet it.
[Al Quran ; 84:6]

فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِيَ كِتَابَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ (7)

So, as for one who is given his book by his right.
[Al Quran ; 84:7]

فَسَوْفَ يُحَاسَبُ حِسَابًا يَسِيرًا (8)

He will be then judged with an easy judgement.
[Al Quran ; 84:8]

وَيَنْقَلِبُ إِلَىٰ أَهْلِهِ مَسْرُورًا (9)

And will return to his family in happiness.
[Al Quran ; 84:9]

وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِيَ كِتَابَهُ وَرَاءَ ظَهْرِهِ (10)

And as for one who is given his book behind his back.
[Al Quran ; 84:10]

فَسَوْفَ يَدْعُو ثُبُورًا (11)

He will then call for destruction.
[Al Quran ; 84:11]

وَيَصْلَىٰ سَعِيرًا (12)

And will reach a blaze.
[Al Quran ; 84:12]

إِنَّهُ كَانَ فِي أَهْلِهِ مَسْرُورًا (13)

Indeed, he had been among his family in happiness.
[Al Quran ; 84:13]

إِنَّهُ ظَنَّ أَنْ لَنْ يَحُورَ (14)

Indeed, he thought that he would never return.
[Al Quran ; 84:14]

بَلَىٰ إِنَّ رَبَّهُ كَانَ بِهِ بَصِيرًا (15)

Yes; indeed, his Lord is of him Seeing.
[Al Quran ; 84:15]

فَلَا أُقْسِمُ بِالشَّفَقِ (16)

So I swear by the twilight.
[Al Quran ; 84:16]

وَاللَّيْلِ وَمَا وَسَقَ (17)

And the night and what it envelops (in darkness).
[Al Quran ; 84:17]

وَالْقَمَرِ إِذَا اتَّسَقَ (18)

And the moon when it becomes full.
[Al Quran ; 84:18]

لَتَرْكَبُنَّ طَبَقًا عَنْ طَبَقٍ (19)

That you will certainly embark one state after (another) state.
[Al Quran ; 84:19]

فَمَا لَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ (20)

So what is the matter with them that they do not believe.
[Al Quran ; 84:20]

وَإِذَا قُرِئَ عَلَيْهِمُ الْقُرْآنُ لَا يَسْجُدُونَ (21)

And when the Quran is recited upon them, they do not prostrate?
[Al Quran ; 84:21]

بَلِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا يُكَذِّبُونَ (22)

Rather those who have disbelieved deny.
[Al Quran ; 84:22]

وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يُوعُونَ (23)

And Allah is most Knowing what they keep inside (themselves).
[Al Quran ; 84:23]

فَبَشِّرْهُمْ بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ (24)

So give them tidings of a painful torture.
[Al Quran ; 84:24]

إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ لَهُمْ أَجْرٌ غَيْرُ مَمْنُونٍ (25)

Except those who have believed and done good deeds; for them is a reward that will not be cut off.
[Al Quran ; 84:25]
