Al-Burooj (The Constellations)

Translation

Verses 1-22

بِسْمِ اللّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ

In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful.

وَالسَّمَاءِ ذَاتِ الْبُرُوجِ (1)

By the sky full of constellations.
[Al Quran ; 85:1]

وَالْيَوْمِ الْمَوْعُودِ (2)

And (by) the promised day.
[Al Quran ; 85:2]

وَشَاهِدٍ وَمَشْهُودٍ (3)

And (by) a witness and what is witnessed.
[Al Quran ; 85:3]

قُتِلَ أَصْحَابُ الْأُخْدُودِ (4)

Perished were the companions of the trench.
[Al Quran ; 85:4]

النَّارِ ذَاتِ الْوَقُودِ (5)

The fire full of fuel.
[Al Quran ; 85:5]

إِذْ هُمْ عَلَيْهَا قُعُودٌ (6)

When they were, over it, sitting.
[Al Quran ; 85:6]

وَهُمْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَفْعَلُونَ بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ شُهُودٌ (7)

And they will be, to what they were doing to the believers, witnesses.
[Al Quran ; 85:7]

وَمَا نَقَمُوا مِنْهُمْ إِلَّا أَنْ يُؤْمِنُوا بِاللَّهِ الْعَزِيزِ الْحَمِيدِ (8)

And they did not resent them except that they believe in Allah, the Mighty, the Praiseworthy.
[Al Quran ; 85:8]

الَّذِي لَهُ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۚ وَاللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ شَهِيدٌ (9)

The One to Whom belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth; and Allah is, over everything, Witnessing.
[Al Quran ; 85:9]

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ فَتَنُوا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَتُوبُوا فَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ الْحَرِيقِ (10)

Indeed, those who tortured the believing men and the believing women and have not repented, then for them will be the torture of hell, and for them will be the torture of the fire.
[Al Quran ; 85:10]

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ لَهُمْ جَنَّاتٌ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ الْفَوْزُ الْكَبِيرُ (11)

Indeed, those who have believed and done good deeds, for them will be gardens beneath which rivers flow; that is an enormous attainment.
[Al Quran ; 85:11]

إِنَّ بَطْشَ رَبِّكَ لَشَدِيدٌ (12)

Indeed, the assault of your Lord is severe.
[Al Quran ; 85:12]

إِنَّهُ هُوَ يُبْدِئُ وَيُعِيدُ (13)

Indeed, it is He Who begins (the creation) and repeats (it).
[Al Quran ; 85:13]

وَهُوَ الْغَفُورُ الْوَدُودُ (14)

And He is the Forgiver, the Affectionate.
[Al Quran ; 85:14]

ذُو الْعَرْشِ الْمَجِيدُ (15)

The Owner of the throne, the Praiseworthy.
[Al Quran ; 85:15]

فَعَّالٌ لِمَا يُرِيدُ (16)

The Doer of whatever He wants.
[Al Quran ; 85:16]

هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ الْجُنُودِ (17)

Has there come to you the story of the soldiers.
[Al Quran ; 85:17]

فِرْعَوْنَ وَثَمُودَ (18)

Firon and Thamud?
[Al Quran ; 85:18]

بَلِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا فِي تَكْذِيبٍ (19)

Rather, those who have disbelieved are in denial.
[Al Quran ; 85:19]

وَاللَّهُ مِنْ وَرَائِهِمْ مُحِيطٌ (20)

And Allah is, from behind them, Encompassing.
[Al Quran ; 85:20]

بَلْ هُوَ قُرْآنٌ مَجِيدٌ (21)

Rather, it is a noble Quran.
[Al Quran ; 85:21]

فِي لَوْحٍ مَحْفُوظٍ (22)

In a reserved tablet.
[Al Quran ; 85:22]
