Al-Tariq (The Piercing Star)

Translation

Verses 1-17

بِسْمِ اللّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ

In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful.

وَالسَّمَاءِ وَالطَّارِقِ (1)

By the sky and al-Tariq.
[Al Quran ; 86:1]

وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الطَّارِقُ (2)

And what can make you realize what is al-Tariq?
[Al Quran ; 86:2]

النَّجْمُ الثَّاقِبُ (3)

(It is) the piercing star.
[Al Quran ; 86:3]

إِنْ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ لَمَّا عَلَيْهَا حَافِظٌ (4)

Indeed, every soul has over it a keeper.
[Al Quran ; 86:4]

فَلْيَنْظُرِ الْإِنْسَانُ مِمَّ خُلِقَ (5)

So let the human observe from what he was created.
[Al Quran ; 86:5]

خُلِقَ مِنْ مَاءٍ دَافِقٍ (6)

He was created from emitted water.
[Al Quran ; 86:6]

يَخْرُجُ مِنْ بَيْنِ الصُّلْبِ وَالتَّرَائِبِ (7)

Emitting from between the male and female sexual organs.
[Al Quran ; 86:7]

إِنَّهُ عَلَىٰ رَجْعِهِ لَقَادِرٌ (8)

Indeed, He is surely over returning it Capable.
[Al Quran ; 86:8]

يَوْمَ تُبْلَى السَّرَائِرُ (9)

The day when secrets will be put on trial.
[Al Quran ; 86:9]

فَمَا لَهُ مِنْ قُوَّةٍ وَلَا نَاصِرٍ (10)

And there will not be for him any strength or helper.
[Al Quran ; 86:10]

وَالسَّمَاءِ ذَاتِ الرَّجْعِ (11)

By the sky which returns.
[Al Quran ; 86:11]

وَالْأَرْضِ ذَاتِ الصَّدْعِ (12)

And (by) the earth which cracks open.
[Al Quran ; 86:12]

إِنَّهُ لَقَوْلٌ فَصْلٌ (13)

Indeed, it is a decisive saying.
[Al Quran ; 86:13]

وَمَا هُوَ بِالْهَزْلِ (14)

And it is not a joke.
[Al Quran ; 86:14]

إِنَّهُمْ يَكِيدُونَ كَيْدًا (15)

Indeed, they are planning a plan.
[Al Quran ; 86:15]

وَأَكِيدُ كَيْدًا (16)

And I am planning a plan.
[Al Quran ; 86:16]

فَمَهِّلِ الْكَافِرِينَ أَمْهِلْهُمْ رُوَيْدًا (17)

So give time to the unbelievers. Leave them for a while.
[Al Quran ; 86:17]
