Al-Hadid (The Iron)
Translation
Verses 1-29
بِسْمِ اللّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful.
سَبَّحَ لِلَّهِ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۖ وَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ (1)
Whatever is in the heavens and the earth glorifies Allah, and He is the Mighty, the Wise.
[Al Quran ; 57:1]
لَهُ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۖ يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ ۖ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ (2)
To Him belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth; He gives life and causes death; and He is over everything Capable.
[Al Quran ; 57:2]
هُوَ الْأَوَّلُ وَالْآخِرُ وَالظَّاهِرُ وَالْبَاطِنُ ۖ وَهُوَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمٌ (3)
He is the First and the Last and the Apparent and the Hidden, and He is, of everything, Knowing.
[Al Quran ; 57:3]
هُوَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٍ ثُمَّ اسْتَوَىٰ عَلَى الْعَرْشِ ۚ يَعْلَمُ مَا يَلِجُ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَمَا يَخْرُجُ مِنْهَا وَمَا يَنْزِلُ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ وَمَا يَعْرُجُ فِيهَا ۖ وَهُوَ مَعَكُمْ أَيْنَ مَا كُنْتُمْ ۚ وَاللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ (4)
It is He Who created the heavens and the earth in six days, then He established Himself above the throne. He knows what oentrates into the earth and what emerges from it and what descends from the sky and what ascends therein. And He is with you wherever you are, and Allah is, of what you do, Seeing.
[Al Quran ; 57:4]
لَهُ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۚ وَإِلَى اللَّهِ تُرْجَعُ الْأُمُورُ (5)
To Him belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth; and to Allah are returned (all) matters.
[Al Quran ; 57:5]
يُولِجُ اللَّيْلَ فِي النَّهَارِ وَيُولِجُ النَّهَارَ فِي اللَّيْلِ ۚ وَهُوَ عَلِيمٌ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُورِ (6)
He merges the night into the day and merges the day into the night, and He is Knowing of what is in the chests.
[Al Quran ; 57:6]
آمِنُوا بِاللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ وَأَنْفِقُوا مِمَّا جَعَلَكُمْ مُسْتَخْلَفِينَ فِيهِ ۖ فَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مِنْكُمْ وَأَنْفَقُوا لَهُمْ أَجْرٌ كَبِيرٌ (7)
Believe in Allah and His messenger and spend out of that in which He has made you successors. For those who have believed among you and spent, there will be a great reward.
[Al Quran ; 57:7]
وَمَا لَكُمْ لَا تُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ ۙ وَالرَّسُولُ يَدْعُوكُمْ لِتُؤْمِنُوا بِرَبِّكُمْ وَقَدْ أَخَذَ مِيثَاقَكُمْ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ (8)
And why do you not believe in Allah while the messenger invites you to believe in your Lord and He has taken your covenant, if you should be believers?
[Al Quran ; 57:8]
هُوَ الَّذِي يُنَزِّلُ عَلَىٰ عَبْدِهِ آيَاتٍ بَيِّنَاتٍ لِيُخْرِجَكُمْ مِنَ الظُّلُمَاتِ إِلَى النُّورِ ۚ وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ بِكُمْ لَرَءُوفٌ رَحِيمٌ (9)
It is He who sends down upon His servant clear signs that He may bring you out from darkness into the light; and indeed, Allah is, to you, Kind, Merciful.
[Al Quran ; 57:9]
وَمَا لَكُمْ أَلَّا تُنْفِقُوا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَلِلَّهِ مِيرَاثُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۚ لَا يَسْتَوِي مِنْكُمْ مَنْ أَنْفَقَ مِنْ قَبْلِ الْفَتْحِ وَقَاتَلَ ۚ أُولَٰئِكَ أَعْظَمُ دَرَجَةً مِنَ الَّذِينَ أَنْفَقُوا مِنْ بَعْدُ وَقَاتَلُوا ۚ وَكُلًّا وَعَدَ اللَّهُ الْحُسْنَىٰ ۚ وَاللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرٌ (10)
And why do you not spend in the way of Allah while to Allah belongs the inheritance of the heavens and the earth? Not equal among you are those who spent before the conquest and fought (and those who did so after), it is them who are greater in degree than those who spent and fought afterwards. And to both Allah has promised the best; and Allah is, of what you do, Acquainted.
[Al Quran ; 57:10]
مَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يُقْرِضُ اللَّهَ قَرْضًا حَسَنًا فَيُضَاعِفَهُ لَهُ وَلَهُ أَجْرٌ كَرِيمٌ (11)
Who is it that will loan Allah a good loan so He will multiply it for him, and for him will be a noble reward?
[Al Quran ; 57:11]
يَوْمَ تَرَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ يَسْعَىٰ نُورُهُمْ بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَبِأَيْمَانِهِمْ بُشْرَاكُمُ الْيَوْمَ جَنَّاتٌ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ (12)
The day you will see the believing men and the believing women, their light proceeding between their hands and on their right, (it will be said): Your good tidings today, gardens beneath which rivers flow, abiding therein. That is the great attainment.
[Al Quran ; 57:12]
يَوْمَ يَقُولُ الْمُنَافِقُونَ وَالْمُنَافِقَاتُ لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا انْظُرُونَا نَقْتَبِسْ مِنْ نُورِكُمْ قِيلَ ارْجِعُوا وَرَاءَكُمْ فَالْتَمِسُوا نُورًا فَضُرِبَ بَيْنَهُمْ بِسُورٍ لَهُ بَابٌ بَاطِنُهُ فِيهِ الرَّحْمَةُ وَظَاهِرُهُ مِنْ قِبَلِهِ الْعَذَابُ (13)
The day the hypocrite men and the hypocrite women will say to those who have believed: Wait for us so that we may acquire light from your light. It will be said (to them): Go back behind you and seek a light. And a wall would be struck between them with a door, its interior containing mercy, but on its outside, there will be torture.
[Al Quran ; 57:13]
يُنَادُونَهُمْ أَلَمْ نَكُنْ مَعَكُمْ ۖ قَالُوا بَلَىٰ وَلَٰكِنَّكُمْ فَتَنْتُمْ أَنْفُسَكُمْ وَتَرَبَّصْتُمْ وَارْتَبْتُمْ وَغَرَّتْكُمُ الْأَمَانِيُّ حَتَّىٰ جَاءَ أَمْرُ اللَّهِ وَغَرَّكُمْ بِاللَّهِ الْغَرُورُ (14)
They (the hypocrites) will call them (the believers): Were we not with you? They will say: Yes, but you afflicted yourselves and you awaited and doubted, and wishful thinking deceived you until there came the command of Allah. And the deceiver (Iblis) deceived you concerning Allah.
[Al Quran ; 57:14]
فَالْيَوْمَ لَا يُؤْخَذُ مِنْكُمْ فِدْيَةٌ وَلَا مِنَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا ۚ مَأْوَاكُمُ النَّارُ ۖ هِيَ مَوْلَاكُمْ ۖ وَبِئْسَ الْمَصِيرُ (15)
So today ransom will not be taken from you or from those who have disbelieved; your refuge is the fire; it is your guardian, and miserable is the destination.
[Al Quran ; 57:15]
أَلَمْ يَأْنِ لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَنْ تَخْشَعَ قُلُوبُهُمْ لِذِكْرِ اللَّهِ وَمَا نَزَلَ مِنَ الْحَقِّ وَلَا يَكُونُوا كَالَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ مِنْ قَبْلُ فَطَالَ عَلَيْهِمُ الْأَمَدُ فَقَسَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ ۖ وَكَثِيرٌ مِنْهُمْ فَاسِقُونَ (16)
Has the time not come for those who have believed that their hearts should become humble at the remembrance of Allah and what has come down of the truth? And let them not be like those who were given the book before, but time prolonged over them, so their hearts hardened; and most of them are disobedient.
[Al Quran ; 57:16]
اعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللَّهَ يُحْيِي الْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا ۚ قَدْ بَيَّنَّا لَكُمُ الْآيَاتِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ (17)
Know that Allah gives life to the land after its death. We have explained to you the signs that perhaps you will understand.
[Al Quran ; 57:17]
إِنَّ الْمُصَّدِّقِينَ وَالْمُصَّدِّقَاتِ وَأَقْرَضُوا اللَّهَ قَرْضًا حَسَنًا يُضَاعَفُ لَهُمْ وَلَهُمْ أَجْرٌ كَرِيمٌ (18)
Indeed, the men who give to charity and women who give to charity and those who have loaned Allah a good loan, it will be multiplied for them, and for them will be a noble reward.
[Al Quran ; 57:18]
وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا بِاللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِ أُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الصِّدِّيقُونَ ۖ وَالشُّهَدَاءُ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمْ لَهُمْ أَجْرُهُمْ وَنُورُهُمْ ۖ وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا وَكَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا أُولَٰئِكَ أَصْحَابُ الْجَحِيمِ (19)
And those who have believed in Allah and His messengers, it is them who are the truthful and the witnesses with their Lord, for them will be their reward and their light. And (as for) those who have disbelieved and denied Our signs, it is them who are the companions of the hellfire.
[Al Quran ; 57:19]
اعْلَمُوا أَنَّمَا الْحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا لَعِبٌ وَلَهْوٌ وَزِينَةٌ وَتَفَاخُرٌ بَيْنَكُمْ وَتَكَاثُرٌ فِي الْأَمْوَالِ وَالْأَوْلَادِ ۖ كَمَثَلِ غَيْثٍ أَعْجَبَ الْكُفَّارَ نَبَاتُهُ ثُمَّ يَهِيجُ فَتَرَاهُ مُصْفَرًّا ثُمَّ يَكُونُ حُطَامًا ۖ وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ عَذَابٌ شَدِيدٌ وَمَغْفِرَةٌ مِنَ اللَّهِ وَرِضْوَانٌ ۚ وَمَا الْحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا إِلَّا مَتَاعُ الْغُرُورِ (20)
Know that the life of this world is only a play and an amusement and an adornment and boasting among yourselves and multiplication of wealth and children, like rain whose plants please the unbelievers; then it dries so you see it yellowish; then it becomes debris. And in the hereafter will be a severe torture and forgiveness from Allah, and approval. And the life of this world is not except the enjoyment of delusion.
[Al Quran ; 57:20]
سَابِقُوا إِلَىٰ مَغْفِرَةٍ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ وَجَنَّةٍ عَرْضُهَا كَعَرْضِ السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ أُعِدَّتْ لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا بِاللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ فَضْلُ اللَّهِ يُؤْتِيهِ مَنْ يَشَاءُ ۚ وَاللَّهُ ذُو الْفَضْلِ الْعَظِيمِ (21)
Race toward forgiveness from your Lord and a garden whose width is like the width of the heaven and the earth; it is prepared for those who have believed in Allah and His messengers. That is the grace of Allah, He gives it to whom He wills; and Allah is the Possessor of the great grace.
[Al Quran ; 57:21]
مَا أَصَابَ مِنْ مُصِيبَةٍ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَا فِي أَنْفُسِكُمْ إِلَّا فِي كِتَابٍ مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ نَبْرَأَهَا ۚ إِنَّ ذَٰلِكَ عَلَى اللَّهِ يَسِيرٌ (22)
No disaster strikes on the earth or among yourselves except that it is in a book before We bring it into existence; indeed, that is, upon Allah, easy.
[Al Quran ; 57:22]
لِكَيْلَا تَأْسَوْا عَلَىٰ مَا فَاتَكُمْ وَلَا تَفْرَحُوا بِمَا آتَاكُمْ ۗ وَاللَّهُ لَا يُحِبُّ كُلَّ مُخْتَالٍ فَخُورٍ (23)
So that you do not despair over what has eluded you and not rejoice over what He has given you; and Allah does not like everyone arrogant, boaster.
[Al Quran ; 57:23]
الَّذِينَ يَبْخَلُونَ وَيَأْمُرُونَ النَّاسَ بِالْبُخْلِ ۗ وَمَنْ يَتَوَلَّ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ الْغَنِيُّ الْحَمِيدُ (24)
Those who are stingy and command the people with stinginess; and whoever turns away, then indeed, Allah is the Rich, the Praised.
[Al Quran ; 57:24]
لَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا رُسُلَنَا بِالْبَيِّنَاتِ وَأَنْزَلْنَا مَعَهُمُ الْكِتَابَ وَالْمِيزَانَ لِيَقُومَ النَّاسُ بِالْقِسْطِ ۖ وَأَنْزَلْنَا الْحَدِيدَ فِيهِ بَأْسٌ شَدِيدٌ وَمَنَافِعُ لِلنَّاسِ وَلِيَعْلَمَ اللَّهُ مَنْ يَنْصُرُهُ وَرُسُلَهُ بِالْغَيْبِ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ قَوِيٌّ عَزِيزٌ (25)
We have certainly sent Our messengers with clear proofs and sent down with them the book and the balance that the people may establish justice. And We have sent down the iron, wherein is great strength and benefits for the people, and so that Allah make evident those who support Him and His messengers unseen. Indeed, Allah is Strong, Mighty.
[Al Quran ; 57:25]
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا وَإِبْرَاهِيمَ وَجَعَلْنَا فِي ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا النُّبُوَّةَ وَالْكِتَابَ ۖ فَمِنْهُمْ مُهْتَدٍ ۖ وَكَثِيرٌ مِنْهُمْ فَاسِقُونَ (26)
And We have certainly sent Nuh and Ibrahim and made in their descendants prophethood and the book; and among them is one who is guided, but most of them are disobedient.
[Al Quran ; 57:26]
ثُمَّ قَفَّيْنَا عَلَىٰ آثَارِهِمْ بِرُسُلِنَا وَقَفَّيْنَا بِعِيسَى ابْنِ مَرْيَمَ وَآتَيْنَاهُ الْإِنْجِيلَ وَجَعَلْنَا فِي قُلُوبِ الَّذِينَ اتَّبَعُوهُ رَأْفَةً وَرَحْمَةً وَرَهْبَانِيَّةً ابْتَدَعُوهَا مَا كَتَبْنَاهَا عَلَيْهِمْ إِلَّا ابْتِغَاءَ رِضْوَانِ اللَّهِ فَمَا رَعَوْهَا حَقَّ رِعَايَتِهَا ۖ فَآتَيْنَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مِنْهُمْ أَجْرَهُمْ ۖ وَكَثِيرٌ مِنْهُمْ فَاسِقُونَ (27)
Then We made Our messengers to follow in their footsteps and made Isa, the son of Mariam, to follow (them), and We gave him the Injeel and placed in the hearts of those who followed him kindness and mercy and monasticism, which they invented, We did not decree it upon them except for the seeking of the approval of Allah. And they did not observe it with its due observance; so We gave those who have believed among them their reward, and most of them are disobedient.
[Al Quran ; 57:27]
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَآمِنُوا بِرَسُولِهِ يُؤْتِكُمْ كِفْلَيْنِ مِنْ رَحْمَتِهِ وَيَجْعَلْ لَكُمْ نُورًا تَمْشُونَ بِهِ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ۚ وَاللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ (28)
O you who have believed! Fear Allah and believe in His messenger, He will give you twofold of His mercy and make for you a light by which you will walk, and He will forgive you. And Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
[Al Quran ; 57:28]
لِئَلَّا يَعْلَمَ أَهْلُ الْكِتَابِ أَلَّا يَقْدِرُونَ عَلَىٰ شَيْءٍ مِنْ فَضْلِ اللَّهِ ۙ وَأَنَّ الْفَضْلَ بِيَدِ اللَّهِ يُؤْتِيهِ مَنْ يَشَاءُ ۚ وَاللَّهُ ذُو الْفَضْلِ الْعَظِيمِ (29)
So that the people of the book may know that they are not able to attain anything from the grace of Allah and that the grace is in the hand of Allah; He gives it to whom He wills. And Allah is the Possessor of great grace.
