Al-Insan (The Human)
Translation
Verses 1-31
بِسْمِ اللّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful.
هَلْ أَتَىٰ عَلَى الْإِنْسَانِ حِينٌ مِنَ الدَّهْرِ لَمْ يَكُنْ شَيْئًا مَذْكُورًا (1)
Has there come upon the human a period of time when he was not a thing mentioned?
[Al Quran ; 76:1]
إِنَّا خَلَقْنَا الْإِنْسَانَ مِنْ نُطْفَةٍ أَمْشَاجٍ نَبْتَلِيهِ فَجَعَلْنَاهُ سَمِيعًا بَصِيرًا (2)
Indeed, We have created the human from a drop of mixture that We may try him; and We made him hearing, seeing.
[Al Quran ; 76:2]
إِنَّا هَدَيْنَاهُ السَّبِيلَ إِمَّا شَاكِرًا وَإِمَّا كَفُورًا (3)
Indeed, We have guided him to the way; he may be grateful or may be ungrateful.
[Al Quran ; 76:3]
إِنَّا أَعْتَدْنَا لِلْكَافِرِينَ سَلَاسِلَ وَأَغْلَالًا وَسَعِيرًا (4)
Indeed, We have prepared for the unbelievers chains and shackles and a blaze.
[Al Quran ; 76:4]
إِنَّ الْأَبْرَارَ يَشْرَبُونَ مِنْ كَأْسٍ كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا كَافُورًا (5)
Indeed, the righteous will drink from a cup whose taste is Kafur (delicious).
[Al Quran ; 76:5]
عَيْنًا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا عِبَادُ اللَّهِ يُفَجِّرُونَهَا تَفْجِيرًا (6)
A spring of which the servants of Allah will drink; they will make it to gush forth with gushing.
[Al Quran ; 76:6]
يُوفُونَ بِالنَّذْرِ وَيَخَافُونَ يَوْمًا كَانَ شَرُّهُ مُسْتَطِيرًا (7)
They fulfil the vows, and they fear a day whose evil will be widespread.
[Al Quran ; 76:7]
وَيُطْعِمُونَ الطَّعَامَ عَلَىٰ حُبِّهِ مِسْكِينًا وَيَتِيمًا وَأَسِيرًا (8)
And they give food in spite of love for it to the poor and the orphan and the prisoner of war.
[Al Quran ; 76:8]
إِنَّمَا نُطْعِمُكُمْ لِوَجْهِ اللَّهِ لَا نُرِيدُ مِنْكُمْ جَزَاءً وَلَا شُكُورًا (9)
(Saying:) We only feed you for the face of Allah; we do not want from you reward or gratitude.
[Al Quran ; 76:9]
إِنَّا نَخَافُ مِنْ رَبِّنَا يَوْمًا عَبُوسًا قَمْطَرِيرًا (10)
Indeed, we fear from our Lord a day distressful, stern.
[Al Quran ; 76:10]
فَوَقَاهُمُ اللَّهُ شَرَّ ذَٰلِكَ الْيَوْمِ وَلَقَّاهُمْ نَضْرَةً وَسُرُورًا (11)
So Allah will protect them from the evil of that day and will make them meet (Him) with brightness and happiness.
[Al Quran ; 76:11]
وَجَزَاهُمْ بِمَا صَبَرُوا جَنَّةً وَحَرِيرًا (12)
And He would reward them, because they patiently endured, a garden and silk.
[Al Quran ; 76:12]
مُتَّكِئِينَ فِيهَا عَلَى الْأَرَائِكِ ۖ لَا يَرَوْنَ فِيهَا شَمْسًا وَلَا زَمْهَرِيرًا (13)
Reclining therein on couches; they will not see therein any sun or cold.
[Al Quran ; 76:13]
وَدَانِيَةً عَلَيْهِمْ ظِلَالُهَا وَذُلِّلَتْ قُطُوفُهَا تَذْلِيلًا (14)
And near above them are its shades; and its produce will be subjected with subjection.
[Al Quran ; 76:14]
وَيُطَافُ عَلَيْهِمْ بِآنِيَةٍ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ وَأَكْوَابٍ كَانَتْ قَوَارِيرَا (15)
And there will be circulated among them vessels of silver and cups which are made clear.
[Al Quran ; 76:15]
قَوَارِيرَ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ قَدَّرُوهَا تَقْدِيرًا (16)
Made clear from silver of which they have measured according to a measure.
[Al Quran ; 76:16]
وَيُسْقَوْنَ فِيهَا كَأْسًا كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا زَنْجَبِيلًا (17)
And they will be made to drink therein a cup whose taste will be ginger.
[Al Quran ; 76:17]
عَيْنًا فِيهَا تُسَمَّىٰ سَلْسَبِيلًا (18)
A spring therein which is named Salsabeel.
[Al Quran ; 76:18]
وَيَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ وِلْدَانٌ مُخَلَّدُونَ إِذَا رَأَيْتَهُمْ حَسِبْتَهُمْ لُؤْلُؤًا مَنْثُورًا (19)
And there will circulate among them eternal youths; when you see them you would think of them to be scattered pearls.
[Al Quran ; 76:19]
وَإِذَا رَأَيْتَ ثَمَّ رَأَيْتَ نَعِيمًا وَمُلْكًا كَبِيرًا (20)
And when you see (what is there), then you would see pleasure and an enormous kingdom.
[Al Quran ; 76:20]
عَالِيَهُمْ ثِيَابُ سُنْدُسٍ خُضْرٌ وَإِسْتَبْرَقٌ ۖ وَحُلُّوا أَسَاوِرَ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ وَسَقَاهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ شَرَابًا طَهُورًا (21)
Upon them will be garments of fine green silk and brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver; and their Lord will make them drink a pure drink.
[Al Quran ; 76:21]
إِنَّ هَٰذَا كَانَ لَكُمْ جَزَاءً وَكَانَ سَعْيُكُمْ مَشْكُورًا (22)
Indeed, this is for you a reward, and your effort will be appreciated.
[Al Quran ; 76:22]
إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْكَ الْقُرْآنَ تَنْزِيلًا (23)
Indeed, it is We Who have sent down to you the Quran in (progressive) descent.
[Al Quran ; 76:23]
فَاصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ وَلَا تُطِعْ مِنْهُمْ آثِمًا أَوْ كَفُورًا (24)
So be patient for the judgment of your Lord and do not obey from among them a sinner or ungrateful.
[Al Quran ; 76:24]
وَاذْكُرِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ بُكْرَةً وَأَصِيلًا (25)
And remember the name of your Lord morning and evening.
[Al Quran ; 76:25]
وَمِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَاسْجُدْ لَهُ وَسَبِّحْهُ لَيْلًا طَوِيلًا (26)
And during the night prostrate to Him and glorify Him a long night.
[Al Quran ; 76:26]
إِنَّ هَٰؤُلَاءِ يُحِبُّونَ الْعَاجِلَةَ وَيَذَرُونَ وَرَاءَهُمْ يَوْمًا ثَقِيلًا (27)
Indeed, those like the immediate (good) and leave behind them a heavy day.
[Al Quran ; 76:27]
نَحْنُ خَلَقْنَاهُمْ وَشَدَدْنَا أَسْرَهُمْ ۖ وَإِذَا شِئْنَا بَدَّلْنَا أَمْثَالَهُمْ تَبْدِيلًا (28)
We have created them and strengthened their forms, and when We will, We will replace their likeness with (complete) replacement.
[Al Quran ; 76:28]
إِنَّ هَٰذِهِ تَذْكِرَةٌ ۖ فَمَنْ شَاءَ اتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِ سَبِيلًا (29)
Indeed, this is a reminder, so whoever wills may take to his Lord a way.
[Al Quran ; 76:29]
وَمَا تَشَاءُونَ إِلَّا أَنْ يَشَاءَ اللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا (30)
And you do not will except that Allah wills. Indeed, Allah is Knowing, Wise.
[Al Quran ; 76:30]
يُدْخِلُ مَنْ يَشَاءُ فِي رَحْمَتِهِ ۚ وَالظَّالِمِينَ أَعَدَّ لَهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا (31)
He admits whom He wills into His mercy; and (as for) the unjust, He has prepared for them a painful torture.
