7.171 - And when We raised the mountain over them as if it was a dark cloud, and they thought that it was going to fall upon them. Take what We have given you strongly and remember what is in it that perhaps that you will fear. 7.172 - And when your Lord took from the sons of Adam, from their loins, their descendants, and made them testify against themselves: Am I not your Lord? They said: Yes, we have testified. Lest you should say on the day of resurrection: Indeed, we were of this unaware. 7.173 - Or lest you say: It was only that our fathers associated others (with Allah) before, and we were descendants after them, so will You destroy us for what the falsifiers have done? 7.174 - And thus do We explain the signs and perhaps they will return. 7.175 - And recite to them the news of whom We gave Our signs, but he withdrew himself from them, and the devil pursued him, and he became of the deviators. 7.176 - And if We had willed, We could have elevated him thereby, but he adhered to the earth and followed his desire. So his example is like that of a dog, if you chase it, it pants; and if you leave it, it pants. That is the example of the people who have denied Our signs; so tell the stories that perhaps they will give thought. 7.177 - Evil is the example of the people who denied Our signs and to themselves, they used to do injustice. 7.178 - Whoever Allah guides, he is the guided; and whoever He misguides, those are the losers. 7.179 - And We have certainly allocated for hell many of the jinn and mankind; they have hearts with which they do not understand, and they have eyes with which they do not see, and they have ears with which they do not hear. They are like cattle; rather, they are more astray. Those are ones who are unaware. 7.180 - And to Allah belong the best names, so call upon Him by them; and leave those who are deviant concerning His names. They will be rewarded for what they used to do.
