Al-Nabaa (The News)
Translation
Verses 1-40
بِسْمِ اللّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful.
عَمَّ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ (1)
About what are they asking one another?
[Al Quran ; 78:1]
عَنِ النَّبَإِ الْعَظِيمِ (2)
About the great news.
[Al Quran ; 78:2]
الَّذِي هُمْ فِيهِ مُخْتَلِفُونَ (3)
That over which they are in disagreement.
[Al Quran ; 78:3]
كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ (4)
No! They are going to know.
[Al Quran ; 78:4]
ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ (5)
Then, no! They are going to know.
[Al Quran ; 78:5]
أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ الْأَرْضَ مِهَادًا (6)
Have We not made the earth a resting place?
[Al Quran ; 78:6]
وَالْجِبَالَ أَوْتَادًا (7)
And the mountains as pegs?
[Al Quran ; 78:7]
وَخَلَقْنَاكُمْ أَزْوَاجًا (8)
And created you in pairs.
[Al Quran ; 78:8]
وَجَعَلْنَا نَوْمَكُمْ سُبَاتًا (9)
And made your sleep for rest.
[Al Quran ; 78:9]
وَجَعَلْنَا اللَّيْلَ لِبَاسًا (10)
And made the night as covering.
[Al Quran ; 78:10]
وَجَعَلْنَا النَّهَارَ مَعَاشًا (11)
And made the day for livelihood.
[Al Quran ; 78:11]
وَبَنَيْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَبْعًا شِدَادًا (12)
And built above you seven strong (heavens).
[Al Quran ; 78:12]
وَجَعَلْنَا سِرَاجًا وَهَّاجًا (13)
And made (the sun) a shining lamp.
[Al Quran ; 78:13]
وَأَنْزَلْنَا مِنَ الْمُعْصِرَاتِ مَاءً ثَجَّاجًا (14)
And sent down from the clouds pouring water.
[Al Quran ; 78:14]
لِنُخْرِجَ بِهِ حَبًّا وَنَبَاتًا (15)
That We may bring forth thereby grains and plants.
[Al Quran ; 78:15]
وَجَنَّاتٍ أَلْفَافًا (16)
And dense gardens.
[Al Quran ; 78:16]
إِنَّ يَوْمَ الْفَصْلِ كَانَ مِيقَاتًا (17)
Indeed, the day of separation is an appointed time.
[Al Quran ; 78:17]
يَوْمَ يُنْفَخُ فِي الصُّورِ فَتَأْتُونَ أَفْوَاجًا (18)
The day the trumpet will be blown and you will come forth in multitudes.
[Al Quran ; 78:18]
وَفُتِحَتِ السَّمَاءُ فَكَانَتْ أَبْوَابًا (19)
And the sky will be opened and will become (full of) doors.
[Al Quran ; 78:19]
وَسُيِّرَتِ الْجِبَالُ فَكَانَتْ سَرَابًا (20)
And the mountains will be removed and will be a mirage.
[Al Quran ; 78:20]
إِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتْ مِرْصَادًا (21)
Indeed, hell has been lying in wait.
[Al Quran ; 78:21]
لِلطَّاغِينَ مَآبًا (22)
For the tyrants, a place of return.
[Al Quran ; 78:22]
لَابِثِينَ فِيهَا أَحْقَابًا (23)
Remaining therein for ages.
[Al Quran ; 78:23]
لَا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا بَرْدًا وَلَا شَرَابًا (24)
They will not taste therein cool or drink.
[Al Quran ; 78:24]
إِلَّا حَمِيمًا وَغَسَّاقًا (25)
Except boiling water and purulence.
[Al Quran ; 78:25]
جَزَاءً وِفَاقًا (26)
An appropriate reward.
[Al Quran ; 78:26]
إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا لَا يَرْجُونَ حِسَابًا (27)
Indeed, they did not desire a reckoning.
[Al Quran ; 78:27]
وَكَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا كِذَّابًا (28)
And denied Our signs with utter denial.
[Al Quran ; 78:28]
وَكُلَّ شَيْءٍ أَحْصَيْنَاهُ كِتَابًا (29)
And everything We have enumerated in writing.
[Al Quran ; 78:29]
فَذُوقُوا فَلَنْ نَزِيدَكُمْ إِلَّا عَذَابًا (30)
So taste, and never will We increase you except in torture.
[Al Quran ; 78:30]
إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ مَفَازًا (31)
Indeed, for the pious is attainment.
[Al Quran ; 78:31]
حَدَائِقَ وَأَعْنَابًا (32)
Gardens and vineyards.
[Al Quran ; 78:32]
وَكَوَاعِبَ أَتْرَابًا (33)
And beautiful women of equal age.
[Al Quran ; 78:33]
وَكَأْسًا دِهَاقًا (34)
And a pure cup.
[Al Quran ; 78:34]
لَا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًا وَلَا كِذَّابًا (35)
They will not hear therein any vain talk or lies.
[Al Quran ; 78:35]
جَزَاءً مِنْ رَبِّكَ عَطَاءً حِسَابًا (36)
A reward from your Lord, a calculated giving.
[Al Quran ; 78:36]
رَبِّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا الرَّحْمَٰنِ ۖ لَا يَمْلِكُونَ مِنْهُ خِطَابًا (37)
The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, the Compassionate; they possess not from Him (authority to) speak.
[Al Quran ; 78:37]
يَوْمَ يَقُومُ الرُّوحُ وَالْمَلَائِكَةُ صَفًّا ۖ لَا يَتَكَلَّمُونَ إِلَّا مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ الرَّحْمَٰنُ وَقَالَ صَوَابًا (38)
The day the spirit and the angels will stand in rows, they will not talk except for one whom the Compassionate permits, and who will say what is correct.
[Al Quran ; 78:38]
ذَٰلِكَ الْيَوْمُ الْحَقُّ ۖ فَمَنْ شَاءَ اتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِ مَآبًا (39)
That is the true day; so whoever wills may take to his Lord a place of return.
[Al Quran ; 78:39]
إِنَّا أَنْذَرْنَاكُمْ عَذَابًا قَرِيبًا يَوْمَ يَنْظُرُ الْمَرْءُ مَا قَدَّمَتْ يَدَاهُ وَيَقُولُ الْكَافِرُ يَا لَيْتَنِي كُنْتُ تُرَابًا (40)
Indeed, We have warned you of a near torture; the day when a person will see what his hands have put forth, and the unbeliever will say: Oh, I wish that I were dust.
