Al-Naziaat (The Extractors)
Translation
Verses 1-46
بِسْمِ اللّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful.
وَالنَّازِعَاتِ غَرْقًا (1)
By those (angels) who extract (the souls) with severity.
[Al Quran ; 79:1]
وَالنَّاشِطَاتِ نَشْطًا (2)
By those (angels) who remove (the souls) with ease.
[Al Quran ; 79:2]
وَالسَّابِحَاتِ سَبْحًا (3)
By those (angels) who float swimming.
[Al Quran ; 79:3]
فَالسَّابِقَاتِ سَبْقًا (4)
And those (angels) who race in a race.
[Al Quran ; 79:4]
فَالْمُدَبِّرَاتِ أَمْرًا (5)
And those (angels) who regulate affair.
[Al Quran ; 79:5]
يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ الرَّاجِفَةُ (6)
The day the blast will convulse.
[Al Quran ; 79:6]
تَتْبَعُهَا الرَّادِفَةُ (7)
Followed by the subsequent.
[Al Quran ; 79:7]
قُلُوبٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاجِفَةٌ (8)
Hearts will, on that day, tremble.
[Al Quran ; 79:8]
أَبْصَارُهَا خَاشِعَةٌ (9)
Their visions will be humbled.
[Al Quran ; 79:9]
يَقُولُونَ أَإِنَّا لَمَرْدُودُونَ فِي الْحَافِرَةِ (10)
They say: Will we indeed be returned to former state?
[Al Quran ; 79:10]
أَإِذَا كُنَّا عِظَامًا نَخِرَةً (11)
Even if we should be decayed bones?
[Al Quran ; 79:11]
قَالُوا تِلْكَ إِذًا كَرَّةٌ خَاسِرَةٌ (12)
They say: That, then, would be a losing return.
[Al Quran ; 79:12]
فَإِنَّمَا هِيَ زَجْرَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ (13)
And it will only be a single shout.
[Al Quran ; 79:13]
فَإِذَا هُمْ بِالسَّاهِرَةِ (14)
And at once they will be awakened.
[Al Quran ; 79:14]
هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ مُوسَىٰ (15)
Has there come to you the story of Musa?
[Al Quran ; 79:15]
إِذْ نَادَاهُ رَبُّهُ بِالْوَادِ الْمُقَدَّسِ طُوًى (16)
When his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa.
[Al Quran ; 79:16]
اذْهَبْ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّهُ طَغَىٰ (17)
(Saying:) Go to Firon, indeed he has transgressed.
[Al Quran ; 79:17]
فَقُلْ هَلْ لَكَ إِلَىٰ أَنْ تَزَكَّىٰ (18)
And say: Would you be willing to purify (yourself)?
[Al Quran ; 79:18]
وَأَهْدِيَكَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَتَخْشَىٰ (19)
And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear.
[Al Quran ; 79:19]
فَأَرَاهُ الْآيَةَ الْكُبْرَىٰ (20)
And he (Musa) showed him the greatest sign.
[Al Quran ; 79:20]
فَكَذَّبَ وَعَصَىٰ (21)
And he (Firon) denied and disobeyed.
[Al Quran ; 79:21]
ثُمَّ أَدْبَرَ يَسْعَىٰ (22)
Then he turned his back striving.
[Al Quran ; 79:22]
فَحَشَرَ فَنَادَىٰ (23)
And he gathered (his people) and called out.
[Al Quran ; 79:23]
فَقَالَ أَنَا رَبُّكُمُ الْأَعْلَىٰ (24)
And he said: I am your exalted lord.
[Al Quran ; 79:24]
فَأَخَذَهُ اللَّهُ نَكَالَ الْآخِرَةِ وَالْأُولَىٰ (25)
So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life.
[Al Quran ; 79:25]
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَعِبْرَةً لِمَنْ يَخْشَىٰ (26)
Indeed, in that is a lesson for one who fears.
[Al Quran ; 79:26]
أَأَنْتُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَمِ السَّمَاءُ ۚ بَنَاهَا (27)
Are you a harder creation or the sky? He constructed it.
[Al Quran ; 79:27]
رَفَعَ سَمْكَهَا فَسَوَّاهَا (28)
He raised its depth and proportioned it.
[Al Quran ; 79:28]
وَأَغْطَشَ لَيْلَهَا وَأَخْرَجَ ضُحَاهَا (29)
And darkened its night and brought out its morning.
[Al Quran ; 79:29]
وَالْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ دَحَاهَا (30)
And (as for) the earth, after that, He compressed it.
[Al Quran ; 79:30]
أَخْرَجَ مِنْهَا مَاءَهَا وَمَرْعَاهَا (31)
He brought out therefrom its water and its pasture.
[Al Quran ; 79:31]
وَالْجِبَالَ أَرْسَاهَا (32)
And (as for) the mountains, He made them firm.
[Al Quran ; 79:32]
مَتَاعًا لَكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَامِكُمْ (33)
A provision for you and for your cattle.
[Al Quran ; 79:33]
فَإِذَا جَاءَتِ الطَّامَّةُ الْكُبْرَىٰ (34)
And when there comes the great overwhelming calamity.
[Al Quran ; 79:34]
يَوْمَ يَتَذَكَّرُ الْإِنْسَانُ مَا سَعَىٰ (35)
The day the human will remember that for which he strove.
[Al Quran ; 79:35]
وَبُرِّزَتِ الْجَحِيمُ لِمَنْ يَرَىٰ (36)
And hell will be exposed for one who sees.
[Al Quran ; 79:36]
فَأَمَّا مَنْ طَغَىٰ (37)
So as for one who transgressed.
[Al Quran ; 79:37]
وَآثَرَ الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا (38)
And preferred the life of this world.
[Al Quran ; 79:38]
فَإِنَّ الْجَحِيمَ هِيَ الْمَأْوَىٰ (39)
Then indeed, hellfire will be the refuge.
[Al Quran ; 79:39]
وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِ وَنَهَى النَّفْسَ عَنِ الْهَوَىٰ (40)
And as for one who feared the position of his Lord and prohibited the soul from (bad) desires.
[Al Quran ; 79:40]
فَإِنَّ الْجَنَّةَ هِيَ الْمَأْوَىٰ (41)
Then indeed, paradise will be the refuge.
[Al Quran ; 79:41]
يَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ السَّاعَةِ أَيَّانَ مُرْسَاهَا (42)
They ask you about the hour: When will be its arrival?
[Al Quran ; 79:42]
فِيمَ أَنْتَ مِنْ ذِكْرَاهَا (43)
You are not (in position) to know it.
[Al Quran ; 79:43]
إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ مُنْتَهَاهَا (44)
To your Lord is its end.
[Al Quran ; 79:44]
إِنَّمَا أَنْتَ مُنْذِرُ مَنْ يَخْشَاهَا (45)
You are only a warner for one who fears it.
[Al Quran ; 79:45]
كَأَنَّهُمْ يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَهَا لَمْ يَلْبَثُوا إِلَّا عَشِيَّةً أَوْ ضُحَاهَا (46)
It will be, the day they see it, as if they had not remained except for an evening or a morning thereof.
